Pupils at Calderwood Primary School in East Calder marked the end of the working week to the sound of the pipes, thanks to a special surprise from Robertson Homes.

We arranged for the Midlothian-based Glencorse Pipe Band to play at the school as the children left their classrooms for the weekend.

Robertson Homes is sponsoring the bands, including the Glencorse Pipe Band, at the East Calder Gala Day on 10 June and pupils and their families stayed after school for a special preview.

Karen Mercer, sales manager at Robertson Homes, said: “We wanted to generate some excitement ahead of the Gala Day which we are proud to support and to give the children and their families something special to mark the end of a hard week’s work.

“There’s nothing quite like the sound of a pipe band and it was great to see so many people enjoying watching and listening and we hope it encourages everyone to come out and see the bands play at the Gala.”

Robertson Homes is currently building 70 four, five and six-bedroom homes at its Calderwood development on Overshiel Road, close to the school and has recently released the final few homes for sale.

Kelly Grieve, Acting Principal Teacher, said: “The pipe band was a lovely surprise for our learners when they left school on Friday.

“East Calder gala day is an important event for our community and thanks to Robertson Homes for supporting it.”
