North East England Team Mentor Next Generation of Entrepreneurs
Young entrepreneurs from North Durham Academy are calling on the advice and experience of our North East England team as they bid to become Future Business Magnates champions in 2024.
Organised by Business Durham, Future Business Magnates challenges 100 12 to 13-year-olds from a dozen schools across County Durham to come up with a viable business idea under the theme - What a Wonderful World, Can You Make It Better?
Children will have to come up with great business ideas to tackle one of three challenges the world faces - the energy crisis, water pollution or food waste - before making a prototype of their product and creating a business plan in the year-long competition.
The Robertson Homes North East England team have volunteered their time to mentor the team of eight girls from North Durham Academy in Stanley as they bid to win the top prize.
The Robertson Homes team, including Andy Dodds, Wes English, Dee Colonia, Richard Kelly and Mark Wallace have already visited the school to hear about the students' ideas and they came away buzzing with excitement.
Wes English, Land Director at Robertson Homes North East England, said: "The team from North Durham Academy already have the seeds of an idea that would be particularly interesting to us as a responsible housebuilding company, so we're looking forward to working closely with them as they develop their proposal.
"We were delighted to be asked by Business Durham to mentor students this year as it fits perfectly with our commitment to giving back to the communities in which we operate and the theme is very topical for our business.
"We're proud to have this opportunity to pass on our experience to a fantastic group of young people."
North Durham Academy is close to two Robertson developments of energy efficient new homes for sale in County Durham, Bowes Manor in Burnopfield and Lionfields in Lambton Park.
