One family at our Haddington development decided to put down roots of an entirely different kind when they went shopping for a real Christmas tree early last December.

They couple popped into Dovecot Grange, our development of luxury homes in Haddington, to have a quick look when they drove past - and came away having bought a brand new home.

By utilising our part exchange scheme, the purchase was stress free for the family and allowed them to move into their new home, a Cedar Garden Room style, in March this year. Part exchanging took the hassle out of buying as the family moved out of their home before a purchaser moved in, ensuring there was no chain and a completely seamless exchange day.

Mum and dad have lived in Haddington for 25 years so the location was a major selling point as Dovecot Grange is within walking distance of the centre of the lively market town. Having brought their family up in the area, they were keen to stay within walking distance of the shops and amenities and just 20 miles from Edinburgh.

The couple opted to ‘move rather than improve’ when they purchased their four-bedroom detached home as they were considering renovating and extending their previous property. They said: “At our stage, some people may be looking to downsize but we decided we needed more space and were exploring the possibility of extending. We visited other new build developments in the area but when we saw the Robertson Homes’ show home it was exactly the house that we could see ourselves living in.”

Choosing to move to a brand new Robertson home ensured the family didn’t have any of the disruption that renovating brings and the stylish Cedar Garden Room offered the open plan living they were looking for. While they found the development attractive and liked the appearance of the new homes, the Cedar Garden Room house style really stood out.

A major selling point was the stunning garden room with double height windows and French doors off the open plan kitchen and dining room which offered them a flexible, L-shaped living space. The additional room has allowed the couple to find places for pictures they bought on holiday years ago and never quite found a home for, and the space has given their furniture a new lease of life.

Upstairs, two bedrooms share a practical Jack-and-Jill ensuite which works well for a family with two grown-up sons, who share the bathroom between their bedrooms. On the second floor, there is an additional family bathroom plus an ensuite to the master bedroom. The master bedroom also benefits from fitted wardrobes and the quality finishes include sanitary ware by Villeroy & Boch.

Having settled into their new home, the family is now looking forward to welcoming more neighbours to Dovecot Grange as there are still plots available, and seeing the community continue to grow with more families putting down roots in their very own Robertson home.

The Cedar Garden Room boasts over 1,800 square feet of home plus a detached single garage.

Prices at Dovecot Grange start from £350,000.
