Eagles Land at County Durham Primary School

Children at Burnopfield Primary School in County Durham were thrilled after Robertson Homes organised a surprise visit by two Newcastle Eagles basketball stars.

Players Will Neighbour and Devin Whitfield called in to the school on Front Street and engaged the pupils with some fun games and answered lots of questions about professional basketball.

Robertson Homes is building Bowes Manor, a collection of 48 new family homes close to the school, and as part of our sponsorship of Newcastle Eagles, we also presented the school with 30 complimentary tickets for an Eagles game.

Wes English, Land Director at Robertson Homes North East England, said: “As part of our ongoing community engagement activities, we were pleased to arrange this surprise visit which we hope inspired the children to take an active role in sport and exercise.

“Will and Devin did a fantastic job in getting all the children involved and they were happy to answer lots of questions about their lives and careers in sport. I know the children and their families are looking forward to seeing both of them in action when they visit the Vertu Motors Arena to watch a match.”

Ruth Sizer, Key Stage 2 leader at Burnopfield Primary School, added: “Thank you to everyone at Robertson Homes and Newcastle Eagles for organising this visit which was a brilliant surprise for our children.

“For many, it was their first experience of basketball and they loved taking part in the fun activities with professional sports stars.”

We currently have a range of three, four and five bedroom homes available for sale at the  Bowes Manor development on Syke Road, which has recently been shortlisted as a finalist in the Residential Development of the Year category at the Insider North East Property Awards 2024.
