A group of Robertson Homes guests had a leisurely journey to visit our Glendevon Grange development in Winchburgh, to truly appreciate its fantastic location

They boarded a canal barge from the popular Park Bistro at Linlithgow for a picturesque two-hour trip along the Union Canal, skippered by David Shirres, treasurer of the Linlithgow Union Canal Society who was aided by Cassandra.

The canal is an oasis of calm and a favourite place for walkers and cyclists and provides breath-taking views of the countryside surrounding Winchburgh.

The trip also gave guests a boat’s-eye view of the new Winchburgh Marina which is scheduled to open later this year, before being taken the five-minute journey by coach to the development, part of the progressive Winchburgh development masterplan, creating a new community on the edge of Edinburgh.

John Murphy, Robertson Homes managing director, said: “We wanted to add a different dimension to the visit and also showcase what a special area this is with attractions like the lovely canal right on the doorstep.

“Everyone really enjoyed the slower pace and it was a great opportunity to chat and get to know guests better while enjoying the wonderful scenery.

“Choosing a canal trip allowed our visitors to see Winchburgh from a new perspective and highlighted the sense of place being created here in West Lothian.

“Our huge thanks to David and Cassandra for steering us and to the Canal Society which does such great work keeping this wonderful asset maintained and well used.”

At the development guests looked around the two show homes – the huge three-storey Everett Grand – named ‘Best House’ at the 2021 Scottish Home Awards and the spacious Mackintosh Garden Room.

This small development of just 53 gorgeous homes has only one currently available for sale with the final five – including the show homes -  yet to be released
