Improved transport links will ensure that Winchburgh is better connected to West Lothian, Edinburgh and beyond, and includes further rail, road, park and ride, canal, pedestrian and cycle access routes. This will include a new motorway junction on the M9 to improve road links and ease congestion. Discussions are ongoing to expand and enhance the local bus network and to introduce a rail station.
A brand-new marina and moorings on the historic Union Canal to the east of the new town centre will provide a range of leisure activities for Winchburgh residents and visitors. The development includes the creation of Auldcathie District Park, a brand new 85-acre district park. Reclaimed from a former landﬁll site, the park will include a café, community growing areas, woodland walks and play areas. The masterplan will also deliver three new neighbourhood parks.

Winchburgh and Holy Family are nearby primary schools, which are based on the same campus following an extension and recent refurb when a nursery attachment was also added. Secondary schooling is a short bus journey to the good reputation Linlithgow, with Livingston, Queensferry and Broxburn also considered catchment. Furthermore, a proposal to build a new secondary school in Winchburgh is underway.
The bus public transport offering is wide-ranging with services through Edinburgh, Linlithgow, Broxburn and South Queensferry. Plans are in place to establish a train halt in Winchburgh on the Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen St line.
