Multi award-winning star chef Gary Maclean was in Inverness to cook up a treat for residents and guests at the launch of two new show homes at our Torvean development of new homes on Golf View Road.
Gary prepared an all-Scottish menu featuring Highland delicacies and locally sourced ingredients such as poached Harris gin cured Hebridean salmon and cauld cranachan, with heather honey Highland Park whisky oats and local berries.
We are building 114 three, four, five and six-bedroom homes at Torvean and invited Gary to cut the ribbon to open the Leonardo Grand and Elliot Garden Room show homes before hosting the cookery demonstration.
Gary, who beat off competition from 47 other professional chefs to win BBC’s Masterchef: The Professionals and runs Maclean’s Scottish Kitchen in the Loch n Larder Food Court in the Eastgate Centre in Inverness, said: ”It was a pleasure to be the first person to cook in this fantastic kitchen and to showcase some of the amazing ingredients local to Inverness.
“As a chef, I would say that the kitchen is at the heart of any home and this particular kitchen has been designed perfectly for both serious cooks or people who just like to have fun experimenting with ingredients.
“The workspace is ideal with plenty of space for preparation and the top of the range appliances are better than many professional kitchens. It is also a great property for entertaining with lots of space in the kitchen/dining/family area.”
Guests at the launch event were also entertained by Inverness musician Calvin Prior with Highlands-based entertainers Bubbles and Co keeping the children amused.
Jacqui McPherson, sales manager at Robertson Homes, said: “As with any Robertson Homes show home, we want to inspire people to imagine how they might live in a brand new, energy efficient home.
“Having a chef of Gary’s calibre put our designer kitchen through its paces which helped demonstrate how our homes are ideal for entertaining, socialising and living life to the full.
”Part of the popularity of our Torvean development is its close proximity to Inverness city centre and its wonderful eateries and having sampled Gary’s cooking, I’m sure many of our residents will be dining soon at his Inverness kitchen.”
