Picking up the keys to a new Robertson home at Ness Castle in Inverness was just the start of a life changing day for Coleyne Kerr.

Already excited to be moving into her dream home, little did she know that her partner of three years, Kevin McBeath, was about to go down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage once they crossed the threshold.

Kevin (32), who works as an offshore electrician, secretly colluded with Robertson’s senior sales executive Graeme Macpherson for four weeks to plan the big surprise.

Hinting at what was to follow on moving-in day, Kevin handed Coleyne (29) a ring box which she opened to find the new house key.

Once inside the four-bedroom detached Delano property, Coleyne was then surrounded by family as Kevin popped the question.

Kevin said: “Graeme has been absolutely brilliant throughout the process of buying our new home.

“He has continually gone over and above at every stage, even sending us photographs of our new home as it progressed while I was working away and offering to pick up our kitchen samples and deliver them to us over one hour away.

“Not only did he make the purchase smooth and enjoyable, he helped me set up the surprise for Coleyne who had no idea I would be asking her to marry me as soon as we got into our new home.

“And he even managed to change our plans at the last minute when fog meant I couldn’t get back to shore for the day I was due to propose.”

Kevin and Coleyne, a care support worker, moved to Ness Castle from Culduthel in Inverness as they needed more space.

“We loved the development as soon as we saw it” explains Kevin. “It is a beautifully designed development surrounded by trees and our corner plot is perfectly situated next to the tree line so we can enjoy the natural surroundings.

“We had viewed a few new build developments by other developers but none matched the value for money and standard of finish that Robertson offered with first class interior specifications.

“Also, we loved the design of the layout, with the living room at the back of the property and the spacious, open plan kitchen/dining/family room.”

Coleyne added: “Everybody at Robertson Homes has been brilliant, especially Graeme and the site manager Gary who has been so helpful before and after we moved in.”

And for anyone wondering whether, just like a good fairy tale, this story had a happy ending, you’ll be delighted to hear that Coleyne said “yes”.
