Chester-le-Street United Girls Secure Sponsorship Goal

Players in a girls’ junior football team in Chester-le-Street will be turning on the style after securing a kit sponsorship deal with a Gateshead-based housebuilding company.

Chester-le-Street United Girls U/13s were invited to Robertson Homes’ nearby Lionfields development of 57 new homes on Lambton Estate to launch their branded football strip in the newly-opened show home.

Approximately 700 children play football at Chester-le-Street United in 69 teams with the Girls U/13s playing their home matches in the Russell Foster Tyne & Wear Youth League at Park View School North Lodge.

Gary Brown, chief executive at Chester-le-Street United, said: “I’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the generous donation towards Chester-le-Street United; this support makes a significant difference, enabling us to provide inclusive pathways for children aged 18 months and up, for boys, girls, including those with disabilities and additional needs.”

Robertson Homes is building 57 luxury new four, five and six-bedroom detached homes at Lionfields, with another development of 48 family homes called Bowes Manor, also nearby in Burnopfield, County Durham.

Andy Dodds, regional director at Robertson Homes North East, said: “Sponsoring Chester-le Street United’s girls is the latest in our youth sport and education community engagement programme at Robertson Homes, which has also seen the company recently sponsor East Durham Junior Football Club in Peterlee, invite pupils from Burnopfield Primary School to learn about construction at Bowes Manor and continue our involvement in Business Durham’s Future Business Magnates, in which we mentor budding entrepreneurs at North Durham Academy.

“Clubs like Chester-le-Street United play an invaluable role in giving young people the opportunity to get involved in sport, build new friendships and learn new skills and our sponsorship is also in recognition of the hard work and dedication of all the volunteers at the club who make it all possible.”

As well as Lionfields and Bowes Manor, Robertson Homes has a third development of new homes in the North East region, with 143 homes currently under construction at Wynyard Woods, located on the western edge of the highly sought-after Wynyard Estate.
