Living near Inverness

Just three miles from the centre of the Highland Capital and with spectacular views over the city, Great Glen Gardens continues the highly successful Robertson Homes development at neighbouring Great Glen Hall. A further sixty 3 and 4 bedroom family homes will be available in this exceptional location.

According to one recent survey, Inverness is ranked the number one city in Scotland for “Quality of life”. With all the amenities of a major urban centre in a compact, friendly package, plus easy access to some of the most magnificent scenery in Europe, the Highland Capital really does offer exceptional family living. Our new Great Glen Gardens development is just three miles from the city centre yet sits within beautiful open farmland, just a short drive away from the northern end of Loch Ness.

An ancient cathedral city, Inverness was once a stronghold of the Picts and was visited by St. Columba in AD 569. The city’s castle is said to have been built by Malcolm III, and played a key role in warfare from the middle ages to the Jacobite rebellion. In the 21st century, Inverness has seen significant economic growth and a boom in jobs.

Life in and around Inverness

As the chief settlement for the central Highlands, Inverness offers excellent shopping, entertainment and nightlife. Local attractions include the Botanic Gardens and the Eden Court Theatre, while each year the city plays host to one of the world’s greatest Highland Games events, as well as two major music festivals.

Under fifteen minutes away down the A82 is Loch Ness, the deep freshwater loch famous throughout the world for the monster affectionately known as Nessie. The Caledonian Canal runs sixty miles from Inverness to Corpach, near Fort William, offering unlimited opportunities for leisure on and near the water. The city boasts a well-equipped Leisure Centre and a number of local golf clubs, while further afield the magnificent landscape of The Great Glen Way, the Black Isle and the rest of the Highlands is practically on your doorstep.

Top-Rated Schools

Great Glen Gardens is served by two primary schools and lies within the catchment area of well-regarded Charleston Academy, which consistently records results higher than the Scottish average. Feepaying Bishop Eden primary school is nearby, and the area is well served by private nurseries. School catchment areas are subject to change, please contact your local school directly for confirmation. The University of the Highlands and Islands has its main campus in Inverness.

Sport and leisure

Whatever the weather, the Inverness Leisure Centre offers a vast range of exhilarating activities. With a large wave pool, river with jets and geysers, three flume rides and an outdoor thistle-shaped pool, family-sized spa bath and toddler pool, it’s the most enjoyable place to go for a dip in the Highlands.

Newly completed Kings Golf Club offers an 18-hole championship course for golf lovers and is just a 6 minute drive away.

Transport links

Great Glen Gardens is just a short walk or drive from Inverness city centre, and only a minute or so from the main A82 road that runs along the western bank of Loch Ness, and on to Fort William. The new West Link road also provides easy access to the A9 towards Aviemore, and the A96 to Elgin. Inverness International Airport - about twenty minutes by car from Great Glen Gardens - has daily flights to London and other major cities in the UK and Europe, as well as to the Northern and Western Isles.
